Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced sets sail

Edward Kenway is back on modern hardware. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced — rebuilt from the ground up by Ubisoft Singapore on the latest Anvil engine (the Shadows-generation stack) — launched July 9 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The remake targets ray-traced global illumination and reflections (including 60 FPS console modes), micropolygon / PBR assets, fully modernized water simulation, and Anvil Atmos dynamic weather that actually affects sails, debris, and sailing feel. Many original developers returned; Matt Ryan reprises Edward.
New story, old fantasy — without the 2013 baggage
Original writer Darby McDevitt contributed new and revised scenes. Blackbeard gets expanded endgame material including “A World Without Gold,” Stede Bonnet receives a new epilogue quest, and three new Jackdaw officers join the crew. Kenway’s Fleet returns in-game (no companion app). Sea shanties expand with ten new songs; photo mode is in.
What’s gone: multiplayer, Freedom Cry as packaged DLC, and the Abstergo Entertainment office sections — replaced with narrative “memory” sequences closer to Shadows-style rifts. Ubisoft’s pitch is pure Caribbean escapism under a bright sky, not a museum piece with 2013 systems bolted on.
