Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game hits July 23

The Avatar universe gets a proper fighter. Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game launches July 23 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, with Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 to follow — developed by Gameplay Group International in collaboration with Paramount.

The 2D anime-style roster spans Team Avatar and Legend of Korra antagonists. Recent marketing highlighted Zaheer’s airbending mixups, with Firelord Ozai, Avatar State Aang, and Nightmare Korra still teasing before launch. Modern expectations are covered: rollback netcode and cross-play.

From near-cancel to launch week

After a rocky development path and a strong public beta / Anime Expo showing, the game is days from shipping with a planned 12-character launch lineup. For fighting-game fans and Avatar die-hards, July 23 is the bending tournament that almost didn’t happen — and the last chance to pre-order before the bracket goes live.
