FFVII Revelation nears the finish — Hamaguchi hears FF17 chants at Fan Fest

Midgar’s remake decade is almost done — and the fandom already wants the next number. With Final Fantasy VII Revelation positioned to close the Remake trilogy next year on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2, FF14 Fest Berlin panel chatter pushed director Naoki Hamaguchi toward hypothetical Final Fantasy XVII duty after Yoshi-P shut down easy VI/VIII/IX remake dreams.

Revelation is the end of this particular road

Three games to retell one 1997 story is the Remake thesis. Revelation is the landing. Multiplat including Switch 2 means the finale is a platform event, not a PS5 footnote — expect a marketing blitz once Square locks a day.

The FF17 meme becomes a quote

Yoshi-P noted fans pivoting from “remake 6” to “have Hamaguchi make 17,” calling it high praise Hamaguchi did not have to answer. SEO will fuse “FF7 Revelation release date” and “Final Fantasy 17 Hamaguchi” until Square prints facts.

“Comments along the lines of “I want this guy to make Final Fantasy 17” — that’s probably the highest praise you can get.”

— Naoki Yoshida to Naoki Hamaguchi — FF14 Fest Berlin 2026 reporting

Finish Revelation first. The XVII chants can wait in the comments — they already rank.
