Fortune’s Weave Direct recap: Eshmel is the true protagonist — time travel after the Heroic Games
The four heroes were the opening act. Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave’s August 4 Direct confirmed what box-art white hair teased: Eshmel is “the story’s true protagonist,” gifted time travel by goddess Fortuna after a five-year jump leaves the Dagdan Empire wrecked by demon god Balor. September 17 Switch 2 launch still holds; the Direct just rewired the pitch.
How the routes actually work
You still start with Cai, Dietrich, Leda, and Theodora competing in the Heroic Games — but Pale Raven’s Perch lets you swap between their arcs and play them in parallel instead of Three Houses-style single-house lockouts. Four altars map timelines where each hero wins; Eshmel can dive back to change their fates so they survive into the post-skip war.
Extras after the stream
Dagdan Collection (steelbook, art cards, map, artbook) day-and-date. Nintendo Music added Fortune’s Weave tracks including the main theme. Nintendo Today app gets an FE theme; Ask the Developer lands September 15. Japan also got a Kazuro Kyou manga for Saikyo Jump’s October issue (onsale Sept 4).
“This is the story’s true protagonist.”
