Onimusha: Way of the Sword is a month out — September 4 samurai reboot on PS5, Xbox, PC

Thirty-one days of sharpening. Onimusha: Way of the Sword — Capcom’s long-teased revival of the demon-samurai action series — launches September 4, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC after moving to that date earlier this year. The one-month mark is when pre-order bonuses and edition SKUs usually freeze.

What Capcom is reclaiming

Classic Onimusha mixed feudal Japan spectacle with demonic invasion and timed-block swordplay. Way of the Sword updates that fantasy for modern action expectations without turning into pure Soulslike tourism — at least that is the marketing promise. Trailer cadence has leaned spectacle over systems; September 4 is when the lock-on camera tells the truth.

September competition

Early September also absorbs Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave (Sept 17) and other Switch 2 gravity. Onimusha needs a clean week-one word-of-mouth to avoid being the “wait for sale” Capcom. If you loved the PS2 trilogy, this is the nostalgia tax window.
