Ryan Gosling is Marvel’s Ghost Rider — Shawn Levy directs for a 2028 release
The internet’s favorite casting rumor just got a stage. At Marvel Studios’ San Diego Comic-Con Hall H panel, Kevin Feige confirmed Ryan Gosling as Johnny Blaze — Ghost Rider — in a new MCU film directed by Shawn Levy for a 2028 theatrical window, with Jonathan Tropper writing.

Why this pairing stuck the landing
Gosling and Levy are already in the Disney industrial complex together on Star Wars: Starfighter (May 28, 2027). Levy’s Deadpool & Wolverine run made him Marvel’s chaos-comedy specialist; Tropper reunites from Starfighter / The Adam Project. Feige’s panel bit — answering a planted Josh Horowitz question by walking Gosling out — turned years of “why isn’t he Ghost Rider yet?” memes into a logo and a date year.
What we do not know yet
Exact 2028 day, supporting cast, and whether Spirit of Vengeance lore survives intact are still TBA. Nicolas Cage’s Sony-era films remain separate continuity. Eva Mendes’ Roxanne Simpson return was not confirmed on stage. Treat any “leaked plot” threads as noise until Marvel prints a synopsis.
“As you know, this is a character I’ve wanted to play for a really long time.”

Hellcycle SEO just became a 2028 content plan. Between Starfighter and Ghost Rider, Gosling’s blockbuster lane is no longer a one-off — it is a schedule.
