Jack Dorsey’s Buzz takes aim at Slack — group chat for humans and AI agents
Slack just got a bee in its channel list. Jack Dorsey’s Block launched Buzz on July 21: a group-chat workspace built for humans and AI agents in the same threads, pitched as model-agnostic, decentralized, self-sovereign, and open source. Free desktop apps for macOS, Windows, and Linux are live; source is on GitHub. Dorsey’s own framing: reduce dependency on Slack and GitHub.
What it actually merges
Buzz looks like Slack with native agents and project workflows in one pane — the “agents live in chat” thesis startups keep shipping. Because it is open source, teams can self-host and fork features instead of waiting on an enterprise roadmap. TechCrunch notes the product is still “early stages,” so ripping out a working Slack org tomorrow is bravado, not a migration plan.
