What you can actually play

Fifteen of the twenty launch characters — Blade debuts as playable — across six stages (New York Day/Night, Savage Land, X-Mansion, Knowhere, Wakanda). Online casual and ranked lobbies, local versus, full Training, and three chapters of The Amazing Guardians Episode Mode. Full launch is August 6 on PS5 and PC.

“No registration is required: simply download the open beta from your platform store and start playing.”

Why FGC forums care this weekend

Closed betas already stress-tested netcode chatter. This weekend is the first public look at Episode Mode and Blade, plus a three-day stress test before the August 6 stampede. Tokon is PS5/PC only at launch — Xbox fighters are watching from the sidelines again — which is its own NeoGAF argument.
