Samsung × Google Intelligent Eyewear still aims at fall 2026 — Gemini glasses, 9-hour battery, no display
The glasses war has a fall skirmish date. Samsung’s Intelligent Eyewear — co-built with Google, Gentle Monster, and Warby Parker — remains pegged for a fall 2026 launch in select markets after the July Unpacked deep dive in London. These are audio-first Gemini glasses on Android XR: camera context, voice, speakers — no in-lens display tier at ship.
Specs that survived the briefing
Up to nine hours per charge, plus a case good for roughly seven full recharges. Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 inside. Dual cameras for capture and whiteboard/document summarization. Touch controls on the frame; Samsung is also testing watch-based gesture ideas. Designs span Gentle Monster fashion frames and Warby Parker everyday pairs, with more colors promised at retail.
Market reality check
Meta still owns the category (Omdia had Ray-Ban Meta near 85% last year). Samsung refuses to publish price beyond “premium.” Google’s pitch is platform-neutral assistance — including iPhone pairing talk in earlier I/O messaging — which is the only way a late entrant steals casual buyers from Meta’s already-normalized face computers.
“Built on the Android XR platform, the intelligent eyewear blends world-class designs with Gemini’s advanced assistance.”
— Sameer Samat, Google — Samsung Newsroom, July 2026
Fall is close. If Meta is your daily driver already, wait for street price. If you live in Galaxy, this is the accessory roadmap to watch.
