Spider-Man: Brand New Day tracks $180–190M — without a single US IMAX screen

Biggest opening of 2026 — on every screen except the ones that matter to IMAX bros. Spider-Man: Brand New Day (July 31) is tracking $180–190 million domestic, with some models stretching toward $200M+, while Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey keeps a four-week lock on every US IMAX auditorium. Dolby and other PLFs still get Spidey. The glass rectangles do not.

What Feige is selling this week
Kevin Feige told Collider / translated Chinese press that Brand New Day finally pairs Holland’s Spider-Man with Ruffalo’s Banner/Hulk in meaningful scenes — something Endgame never staged. Longer term: Marvel wants live-action Miles Morales after Sony’s animated Spider-Verse cycle ends, with a roadmap joke that already scribbles toward 2042.
“We definitely have plans… a live action Spider Man movie has this destiny: to add Miles sometime after the Spider Verse series ends.”
— Kevin Feige — July 2026 interviews
The IMAX irony
Odyssey needed IMAX to justify a $250M R-rated epic. Spidey apparently does not — tracking nearly double Odyssey’s projected open without a single domestic IMAX print. That is either the strongest franchise signal of the year or the loudest warning that premium formats are now a Nolan tax, not a universal law.
Web fluid does not require 70mm. Ticket buyers already know.
