Valve: Steam Frame and Steam Machine ship this summer

Valve has put summer on the calendar. Expanding Steam Verified to cover Steam Machine and Steam Frame, the company confirmed both devices are “shipping this summer” — tightening the vague 2026 window after memory shortages forced a pricing and schedule rethink earlier this year.
Steam Frame is a streaming-first standalone headset on SteamOS: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, 16GB LPDDR5X, dual 2160×2160 LCDs with pancake optics, 72–144 Hz refresh, inside-out tracking, eye tracking for foveated streaming, and 256GB/1TB UFS plus microSD. A bundled Wi-Fi 6E 6GHz adapter talks point-to-point to your PC — no fighting the home router.

Steam Frame Verified now targets standalone VR at a minimum 72 fps at 1728×1728 (down from an earlier 90 fps pitch), with flatscreen-in-VR titles needing 30 fps at 1280×720. On-device play uses Proton/FEX for x86 games on ARM; streaming remains the intended high-end path. Controllers ship in the box; an Enthusiast Kit with hot-swappable battery has shown up in FCC filings.
Exact day-one pricing still isn’t public. Valve once aimed below the $1,000 Index kit, then warned AI-driven component costs would push prices higher. Import logs of pallets at U.S. warehouses suggest the summer claim is more than aspirational — and that Steam Frame, Machine, and Controller are finally leaving the announcement slide.
