Desire for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time’s Switch 2 remake is so loud that a Google cache snippet was enough to set Reddit on fire. This week, users shared what looked like a GameStop pre-order start of August 4, 2026 — complete with “PRE-ORDER BONUS” language. Then the listing behaved like a glitch, and the grown-ups in the rumor economy said so out loud.
Rumor status: No official Nintendo pre-order date or price. Treat Aug. 4 claims as unreliable unless Nintendo or an authorized retailer confirms them.
What happened
A Reddit/X chain pointed at Google’s cached GameStop result for the remake showing 08/04/2026. Excitement followed. Replication failed for multiple outlets. Nate the Hate and others noted Google Search often smears metadata across products — Beast of Reincarnation was floated as a likely contaminant. Polygon and Kotaku both landed on “system glitch,” not a soft launch.
What is still real
Nintendo has confirmed an Ocarina of Time remake exclusive to Switch 2, targeted for release by the end of 2026. Details on whether it is a full reimagining or a cleaner HD pass remain scarce — which is exactly why $60 PlayAsia placeholders and cache screenshots fill the vacuum. A Direct, Nintendo Today drop, or My Nintendo Store pre-order page will be the actual signal.
