Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game launches today — 1v1 bending after a three-week delay

The elements finally went live. After a three-week delay, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game launches today, July 23, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2. It is a pure 1v1 2D fighter — not a tag brawler — with twelve launch characters from Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, including Sokka, Kyoshi, and Zaheer, plus support characters that rewrite matchup math mid-round.

What ships today
Modes: story, arcade, training, spectator, online and offline versus, plus an art gallery. Developers Gameplay Group International (Diesel Legacy, Them’s Fightin’ Herds) partnered with Paramount / Skydance Games energy for the IP. Rollback netcode and crossplay are part of the modern-hardware pitch. Early reviews are already calling it an “easy to learn, difficult to master” embodiment of bending combat — the exact sentence fighting-game marketers pray for.
“For Avatar fans with minimal fighting game experience, developers also added a game mode specifically for genre newcomers.”

Calendar collision
Today is absurdly stacked: Splatoon Raiders, Halo Premium early access, Disgaea Mayhem, Final Fantasy X/X-2 on Switch 2. Avatar’s timing also sits days before Paramount+’s Avatar Aang movie window — synergy or traffic jam depending on your SSD. If you only install one fighter this summer before Spider-Man week eats the oxygen, this is the colorful one.

Water. Earth. Fire. Air. And a ranked queue that will humble you by dinner.
