Halo: Campaign Evolved Premium early access is live — 8 AM PDT, no pre-loads

Master Chief is back on the ring — if you paid for Premium. Halo Studios locked Halo: Campaign Evolved early access for today, July 23, 2026, at 8:00 AM PDT for Premium Edition and Collector’s Edition owners on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5. Everyone else gets the same clock on July 28, when the remake also hits Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass day one.

No pre-load, on purpose
A fresh Steam / studio note confirmed the go-live window and conspicuously skipped pre-loading. Trade coverage reads that as leak prevention: no multi-gig overnight install sitting on SSDs for weekend dataminers. Cross-progression and crossplay need a Microsoft account; Xbox players can link Gamertag to Steam for friends lists. Official mod tools are not shipping — Halo Studios is not blocking community mods, but monetized mods and ripping “a substantial part” of copyrightable code stay off-limits.
“Halo: Campaign Evolved is a faithful yet modernized remake of Halo: Combat Evolved’s campaign, rebuilt from the ground up.”
— Xbox Wire — Game Pass Wave 2 (July 21, 2026)
What Premium actually unlocks
Beyond the five-day head start: HD rebuild, refined controls, up to 4-player online co-op, three new Operation: Meteorite missions, expanded arsenal, vehicles, and enemies. Firefight and long-tail live-service plans are still “no current post-launch support” territory in studio language — with rumor mills already shopping DLC ideas anyway.

If your Premium receipt is burning a hole in the library, the download clock just started. Standard owners: clear a week of drive space and wait for the 28th.
