Beast of Reincarnation locked for Aug 4 Game Pass — Game Freak’s 30–40 hour dog RPG

Pokémon’s studio is about to drop something that is very much not a pocket monster. Beast of Reincarnation — Game Freak’s post-apocalyptic “one-person, one-dog” action RPG — is confirmed day one on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on August 4, 2026, the same day it launches on Xbox Series, PC, and PlayStation 5. Fresh publisher chatter this week also sketched a 30–40 hour campaign with open-world slices you do not get to rewind.

The pitch

Emma fights in real time with a sword; Koo answers turn-based-style skill commands when you open the menu and slow the fight. Parries feed Koo’s meter. The world is a blighted, spirit-stone Japan a thousand years out — beautiful, hostile, and built around a Sealer who absorbs malefact blight into her own body. Director Kota Furushima’s hybrid combat is the hook; Pablo Uchida’s character designs are the marketing face.

“Experience the innovative “one-person, one-dog action RPG” in the beautiful yet harsh post-apocalyptic Japan.”

Length and structure notes

Fictions / Pure Xbox coverage from this week’s previews: the game is only partially open-world in stretches, and those segments are not revisit-friendly once the story pushes you forward. Expect closer to a guided 30–40 hour arc than a hundred-hour checklist sandbox. Handheld Optimized and Xbox Play Anywhere are on the Xbox SKU checklist.

August 4 is two weeks out. If your Game Pass queue still has room after Halo week, Emma and Koo just took the next slot.
