Beast of Reincarnation hits August 4 — Game Freak’s Zelda-like is Game Pass day one

Game Freak’s non-Pokémon swing is three days out. Beast of Reincarnation — the one-person, one-dog action RPG first shown in Xbox’s January Developer_Direct — launches August 4, 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC, with day-one Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. You play Emma, a warrior who seals corruption into her own body, paired with canine companion Koo across a ruined 4026 AD world that reads like Zelda by way of katana combat and command-triggered partner skills.

Why Pass day one is the story

Ultimate and PC tiers are the only ones that still get day-one releases under Xbox’s reworked structure — so this is a subscription headline, not a Standard-tier surprise. Microsoft’s Wave 2 July/early-August roundup already queued Mistfall Hunter and Halo: Campaign Evolved; Beast of Reincarnation is the next big install before Heretic & Hexen hit Premium the same day. Later in August, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is also locked as a day-one Pass title on the 27th.

Multiplat, still a Pass win

The game is not an Xbox exclusive — Sony’s State of Play carried the August 4 date — but Pass subscribers skip the sticker on Cloud, Series, and PC the morning it unlocks. For Pokémon-fatigued Game Freak watchers, this is the studio’s clearest “we can ship a different fantasy” proof point of the decade.
