GTA 6 “physical” PS5 codes are region-locked — Xbox codes are not
The box is theater. The code is the game. Rockstar’s support update for Grand Theft Auto VI’s disc-free physical editions makes the platform split concrete: PlayStation 5 download codes are region-locked in major markets (including North America, UK, Brazil, Japan, South Korea), while Xbox Series codes are not region-locked.
Why this bites on PS5
You cannot treat a foreign PS5 GTA 6 code like an old multi-region disc. Account country must match the code’s sales region. Japan adds another knife: codes expire 170 days after issue. Import bargains and gray-market “physical” pre-orders just got riskier.
Xbox’s quieter win
Same download-code-in-a-box format, fewer redemption landmines. Pre-load still opens November 12 for pre-orders; launch remains November 19 on PS5 and Xbox. Trailer discourse can wait — redeem rules decide who eats a dead code on launch morning.
