Mortal Shell 2 open beta is live on PS5 and Xbox — free three-hour slice ahead of Aug 20
The Harbinger just got a console login. Mortal Shell 2’s free open beta is live on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S — expanding the Steam trial that already cleared 600,000+ downloads and a ~93% positive rating. Cold Symmetry and Playstack are handing out roughly the first three hours: Prologue into the early open world, with the full game still dated August 20, 2026 at $49.99.
What you can play right now
Inhabit Shells, cleanse beacons, poke optional dungeons and mini-bosses, and push toward Magdalena, the Lady of the Woods. Reach Marrow Keep and the full game will let you skip the Prologue. Play ~30 minutes and you unlock the Flayed Harbinger cosmetic for launch. Currency, weapons, Shells, and other loot reset — the beta is a taste, not a save-file ferry.
How to download
Search “Mortal Shell II Open Beta” on the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store. No preorder and no Game Pass / PS Plus gate — any account can grab it. The beta is a separate app from the full game, so launch day still means a fresh install of the retail build.
