Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8, Fold8 Ultra & Flip8 hit stores August 7 — pre-orders live, Gemini Nano 4 inside

The foldable shelf restocks Friday. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Flip8 — unveiled at London’s July Unpacked — go on general sale August 7, 2026 across Samsung.com, Best Buy, Amazon, and the major US carriers. Pre-orders have been open since July 22. This is the first year Samsung ships three distinct foldable phones at once: Ultra productivity, a reimagined wide Fold8 form factor, and the sleekest Flip yet.

Price stack and what each phone is for

US starting prices: Flip8 $1,199, Fold8 $1,899, Fold8 Ultra $2,099. All three run Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, Android 17, and One UI 9. Fold8 Ultra is the camera-and-workspace flagship (200MP main, larger battery, Violet Shadow exclusive). Fold8 is the new wide-aspect experiment — cover and main ratios tuned for video, reading, and short-form. Flip8 is the expressive pocket option with a smarter FlexWindow. Online-only colors (Green Shadow, Pistachio, Mint) stay Samsung.com exclusives.

Gemini Nano 4 is the software headline

These are the first devices to ship Google’s Gemini Nano 4 on-device model, powering Gemini Intelligence task automation across 40+ apps — ticket snipes, food orders, screen-aware prompts — plus a pre-installed Gemini Notebook trial with six months of Google AI Pro. Samsung is pitching agentic AI as the reason to upgrade, not just a thinner hinge.

“The all-new Galaxy Z series opens a new chapter in foldables with three distinct experiences designed for Ultra productivity, immersive discovery and self-expression.”

— Samsung Global Newsroom — July 22, 2026

Trade-in math decides the winner. If you already live on a Fold7, Ultra is the incremental leap; if you want a different shape, Fold8 is the curious pick. Flip buyers: Friday is the quietest day to walk into a carrier store before weekend lines.
