Microsoft confirms Copilot “super app” this year — chat, code, and Autopilots in one
One Copilot to rule the taskbar. On Microsoft’s July 29 earnings call, CEO Satya Nadella confirmed the company is shipping an AI “super app” this year that folds Copilot chat, Cowork, Autopilots, and code — spanning “both consumer and commercial experiences.” The Fortune reporting from earlier in the year just got a CEO stamp.

What Nadella actually said
“Copilot is evolving rapidly from chat to Cowork to Autopilots,” Nadella told analysts. “This quarter, we are bringing these Copilot experiences together, including code, in one super app… This is a major step forward, and I look forward to sharing more soon.” That lines up with EVP Jacob Andreou’s mandate to unify consumer and enterprise Copilot after years of parallel brands that shared a logo and little else.
Why the timing is a product emergency
OpenAI already previewed ChatGPT Work (chat + Codex in one shell). Google is stitching Gemini deeper into macOS and Search. Microsoft’s problem was not model access — it was five Copilots and a confused user. August-era launch chatter and usage-based Autopilot/Cowork pricing mean the “super app” is also a packaging play: one install, tiered agent spend. Microsoft’s quarter hit about $90 billion with AI and cloud still doing the pull-ups.

If you still open three Copilot windows before standup, Microsoft heard you. Watch for the install that finally kills the brand salad.
