First contact just moved to your living room. Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day — his latest alien swing after Close Encounters / E.T. / War of the Worlds DNA — is available to buy and rent digitally as of July 20–21, 2026, only 38 days after the June 12 theatrical opening. Amazon listings sat around $24.99 for the digital pre-order/buy window.
What the movie is
Parallel tracks: Dr. Daniel Kellner (Josh O’Connor), a cybersecurity specialist determined to leak proof of alien life, and Margaret Fairchild (Emily Blunt), a Kansas City meteorologist who develops psychic abilities after her own close encounter. It is classic Spielberg first-contact framing updated for the leak-era internet — less bicycle silhouette, more classified-file panic.

Peacock still later
Universal’s subscription landing is expected on Peacock in the September–October range; no firm date yet. For now the play is premium VOD. If you skipped it in theaters because tracking looked soft, the digital drop is the cheaper second chance before the ad-tier wait.
Spielberg aliens on the couch again. The mothership can wait for Peacock — the hard drive cannot.
