Spider-Man: Brand New Day is 10 days out — dual aspect ratios, tickets live, villain still invisible

The MCU’s summer bridge before Doomsday is almost here. Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters July 31, 2026 — ten days from today’s SignalSpawn desk — and Sony/Marvel’s marketing is already past the “first look” phase into ticket-push mode.

Where Peter is after No Way Home

Four years after No Way Home’s memory wipe, adult Peter Parker (Tom Holland) is living alone in a New York that no longer knows his name. Full-time Spider-Man, zero civilian safety net. Official copy says the pressure of watching old friends move on sparks a physical evolution he may not control — the same change that might be the only weapon against “a powerful villain no one can even see.”

“The world may have forgotten Peter Parker, but he hasn’t forgotten them.”

— Marvel / Sony — Spider-Man: Brand New Day campaign line

Cast and crew

Destin Daniel Cretton directs. Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers write. Starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo. Producers include Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Rachel O’Connor. Trade chatter has floated Mister Negative / symbiote / “evolution” theories for months — Marvel is still not naming the invisible threat in marketing.

The theatrical experiment: two native aspect ratios

For the first time in Spider-Man film history, Brand New Day was finished in two native aspect ratios: 1.90:1 for flat auditoriums and 2.39:1 for scope screens. Sony’s pitch is simple — every screen gets a version framed for that screen, not a letterboxed compromise. If you care about composition, check which ratio your local auditorium runs before you buy.

Why the date matters for the MCU calendar

Brand New Day is positioned as MCU film #38, landing weeks before Avengers: Doomsday’s December run-up. ABC and trade coverage have openly floated Brand New Day as a soft on-ramp into Doomsday’s multiverse pile-up. Whether that means post-credits connective tissue or just shared calendar gravity — July 31 is when the receipts (and the mid-credits) land.

Ten days. Dual ratios. An invisible villain. Peter Parker’s loneliest chapter is about to get the loudest weekend of the summer.
